As difficult as it is to produce excellent Pinot Noir, it is even more difficult to do so at a fine value. In their development of the Banshee label, the winemakers gained a stable of quality sources for Pinot fruit from the finest AVAs in California. The 2012 Sonoma County Pinot Noir is only the fourth vintage from the enterprising team at Banshee Wines. A large percentage of it is still sourced from the Sonoma Coast, often declassified barrels from vineyards that close followers of top-tier west coast Pinot may recognize: Coastlands, Emmaline, Jack Hill, Rice-Spivak, Tina Marie, Hellenthal, Hurst, Bohemian, Sullivan Vineyards and more. Tasting notes from the winery for this brand-new release: “The aromatics start in a cool perfumy register that is underlined by a touch of forest floor. In the mouth the wine offers a deft balance between just ripe raspberries and boysenberry against a frame of rhubarb and pine. The 2012 also possesses a sense of coiled energy behind its elegant outward appearance.”
Comprised of 46% Syrah, 36% Grenache, 11% Mourvèdre, and 7% Counoise, this 2011 Rhone blend were hand harvested after a long, cool growing season. Modest alcohol and good acidity mark the fresh, aromatic, and structured profile. The wine was aged for 16 months in (15% new French) oak to develop complexity, but not impart too much wood character.
Meiomi Chardonnay embodies the character of California’s most notable coastal wine regions. Unifying the unique characters from each region allows this Chardonnay to distinguish itself as an elegant, balanced Chardonnay fully formed.

Displaying the characteristic aromas of bright cherry and earth notes which are the mark of a good California Pinot Noir, the wine cements its quality with soft and complex flavors of dark fruit and spice.” – Winemaker Notes

Swiftly followed by black pepper and black olive, the supple mouthfeel fills out this full-bodied wine. Spicy American oak heightens the dense fruit, finishing with wisps of ground pepper and stellar tannins.
