As difficult as it is to produce excellent Pinot Noir, it is even more difficult to do so at a fine value. In their development of the Banshee label, the winemakers gained a stable of quality sources for Pinot fruit from the finest AVAs in California. The 2012 Sonoma County Pinot Noir is only the fourth vintage from the enterprising team at Banshee Wines. A large percentage of it is still sourced from the Sonoma Coast, often declassified barrels from vineyards that close followers of top-tier west coast Pinot may recognize: Coastlands, Emmaline, Jack Hill, Rice-Spivak, Tina Marie, Hellenthal, Hurst, Bohemian, Sullivan Vineyards and more. Tasting notes from the winery for this brand-new release: “The aromatics start in a cool perfumy register that is underlined by a touch of forest floor. In the mouth the wine offers a deft balance between just ripe raspberries and boysenberry against a frame of rhubarb and pine. The 2012 also possesses a sense of coiled energy behind its elegant outward appearance.”
Bogle winemakers have crafted an expressive example of this classic varietal. Richly extracted cherry and cassis arrest the senses, holding captive on both the nose and the palate. Swiftly followed by black pepper and black olive, the supple mouthfeel fills out this full-bodied wine. Spicy American oak heightens the dense fruit, finishing with wisps of ground pepper and stellar tannins.
This well-balanced red wine can be savored with a variety of meat dishes, rich sauces or aged cheeses. Try a rib eye with blue cheese butter.

Bogle Wines are certified sustainable!
Thirty-four years after it was first produced by the Bogle family in 1978, Petite Sirah is today considered Bogle’s “heritage” varietal. Once again the trademark qualities shine through in a wine that is supple, luscious and easy to enjoy.Deeply inky, this wine coats the glass and lingers before the first sip has been taken. Heady aromas of boysenberries and blackberries headline the entry, while flavors of wild blueberries steal the show. Full-bodied and concentrated, seductive juniper and anise tangle with coffee and leather tones as the wine’s finish lingers on stage. Enduring and enthralling, this wine is perfectly suited for an encore.
This unique, non-traditional white wine blend was created to offer full-flavored fruit and enough complexity to match the creative dishes being offered by today’s generation of chefs.
Conundrum can be served with every course from appetizer to dessert and pairs beautifully with spicy foods and full-flavored Asian cuisine. The “conundrum,” or puzzle, of this wine is in guessing which grapes make up the blend.
While the exact blend remains a secret, the 2011 Conundrum delivers its promise of being an exotic, food-friendly white wine that you can’t quite categorize. It’s neither too rich nor too light, with just the right balance of extract, acidity, and spice. It consists of both popular and esoteric white grapes, including–but in no special order–Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Viognier, and Muscat Canelli. The various lots are fermented separately so the optimal and most exciting blend can be determined when the wine is ready to be bottled. Some lots are aged in stainless steel while others are aged in a combination of new and used French oak barrels. Thus the final final cuvée exhibits the best of what both methods impart in harmonious balance. Wine Spectator wrote of the 2010 vintage: “Wonderfully effusive, a bouquet of honeysuckle and jasmine gives way to ripe, fleshy peach, pear, tangerine and melon notes. Rich flavors and supple textures are matched by a refreshing acidity.”
Yamhill Cuvée has an aroma profile that consists of red fruits, minerals, spice, earth, and hint of French Oak. The palate offers youthful tannins and balanced acidity which lead to a smooth and graceful finish. It is approachable in its youth, while maintaining the elegance and finesse of a Domaine Serene Pinot Noir.
