A Unique Blend of Zinfandel, Syrah & Petit Syrah Wine…

From the guys who brought your daughter home late comes the fourth release of Sexual Chocolate Wine! Made in Napa, Sexual Chocolate is a true California wine, blending old vine Zinfandel from Napa with northern California Syrah and Petit Syrah. The Zinfandel presents a rich, warm feel that could be confused with biting into a chocolate covered cherry, while the Syrah adds a finish that does not linger after the party is over. The Petit is blended perfectly to display aromatics of magic and love. Sexual Chocolate pairs well with late nights, friends, and a second bottle of Sexual Chocolate.

If you try to find the exact cepage on this always-fantastic red blend, you might find yourself gazing up at the heavens for an answer, since you won’t get one from the winemaker. The Pleiades might be the only super allocated, cult California wine for under $35, and it’s sure to sell out quickly, as previous vintages have. From “One of California’s most iconic and mystical winemakers,” says Robert Parker, “Sean Thackrey has logged in 20 or more vintages of consistently stunning wines that perhaps say it all with the simple quote on his label: -Sean A. Thackrey, Vintner, Bolinas, California.” (08/09)

Last year this wine came top in the Wine Spectator Magazine Tasting for ‘Best Value Portuguese Wine out of hundreds of wines. Rich blackberry and mulberry fruit, with a dark black cherry undercurrent. In the mouth the wine has a wonderful dry richness and smoothness on the palate, and a brightness thanks to excellent acidity. Flavors of black cherry, wet earth, mulberries. Delicious!

Full medium ruby.  Very ripe aromas of blackberry, kirsch, dark chocolate and violet.  Rich, dense and intense but rather porty, with some intrusive acidity and an herbal element giving the finish a green quality.  Offers good intensity but shows a disjointed overripe/underripe character.

A brilliant estate in the Lebanon, a joint venture between Ramzi & Sami Ghosn, Daniel & Frédéric Brunier (Vieux Télégraphe) and Dominique Hébrard (ex Cheval Blanc). Having survived the war between Israel and hezbollah in 2006, Massaya celebrated their 10th anniversary midst more warring in 2008. The Tanaïl/Massaya vineyards are located at an altitude of 1000 metres above sea level in the fertile Bekaa Valley where the slopes are protected by Mount Lebanon and the Anti-Lebanon mountains. Free of frost and diseases, the Bekaa Valley enjoys a unique climate with long gentle summers, wet winters and an average temperature of 25 degrees – perfect for viticulture. Daniel and Frédéric Brunier have introduced a showpiece winery copied from Vieux Télégraphe and Les Pallières in Gigondas – alternate small wooden and concrete vats, all designed by the same winery architect. The winery is uniquely situated in the middle of their vineyards. The wines offer a wonderful mix of the Rhône, Bordeaux and the spice of the Levant.

The wine’s aromas are rich yet very elegant with morello cherry, cassis and spice to the fore. On the palate it is concentrated and ripe, with plenty of perfumed, parma-violet character, fine tannins and an excellent length.
