Intense red colour with a purple rim. A spicy profile with ripe black fruit and violets. Smooth and rich on the palate with soft tannins, good density and a hint of oak. A well balanced, unpretentious wine made for easy drinking.
Bright violet color. Spicy cherry and black raspberry on the fragrant, spice-accented nose, with complicating notes of black pepper and smoky oak. Chewy, taut dark berry flavors show very good depth and appealing sweetness. Tannins build on the juicy, spice-accented finish, which is sharply focused and nicely persistent. This wine offers outstanding value.

A brilliant estate in the Lebanon, a joint venture between Ramzi & Sami Ghosn, Daniel & Frédéric Brunier (Vieux Télégraphe) and Dominique Hébrard (ex Cheval Blanc). Having survived the war between Israel and hezbollah in 2006, Massaya celebrated their 10th anniversary midst more warring in 2008. The Tanaïl/Massaya vineyards are located at an altitude of 1000 metres above sea level in the fertile Bekaa Valley where the slopes are protected by Mount Lebanon and the Anti-Lebanon mountains. Free of frost and diseases, the Bekaa Valley enjoys a unique climate with long gentle summers, wet winters and an average temperature of 25 degrees – perfect for viticulture. Daniel and Frédéric Brunier have introduced a showpiece winery copied from Vieux Télégraphe and Les Pallières in Gigondas – alternate small wooden and concrete vats, all designed by the same winery architect. The winery is uniquely situated in the middle of their vineyards. The wines offer a wonderful mix of the Rhône, Bordeaux and the spice of the Levant.
The wine’s aromas are rich yet very elegant with morello cherry, cassis and spice to the fore. On the palate it is concentrated and ripe, with plenty of perfumed, parma-violet character, fine tannins and an excellent length.
Full medium ruby. Very ripe aromas of blackberry, kirsch, dark chocolate and violet. Rich, dense and intense but rather porty, with some intrusive acidity and an herbal element giving the finish a green quality. Offers good intensity but shows a disjointed overripe/underripe character.
Last year this wine came top in the Wine Spectator Magazine Tasting for ‘Best Value Portuguese Wine out of hundreds of wines. Rich blackberry and mulberry fruit, with a dark black cherry undercurrent. In the mouth the wine has a wonderful dry richness and smoothness on the palate, and a brightness thanks to excellent acidity. Flavors of black cherry, wet earth, mulberries. Delicious!
