Full medium ruby. Very ripe aromas of blackberry, kirsch, dark chocolate and violet. Rich, dense and intense but rather porty, with some intrusive acidity and an herbal element giving the finish a green quality. Offers good intensity but shows a disjointed overripe/underripe character.
Dark purple in the glass. Smoky notes with intense dark berry aromas, framed by oak spice. Fleshy dark fruit continue on the palate with firm tannins and lingering flavours of spice and dark coffee. Medium bodied with well balanced fruit acidity.
A brilliant estate in the Lebanon, a joint venture between Ramzi & Sami Ghosn, Daniel & Frédéric Brunier (Vieux Télégraphe) and Dominique Hébrard (ex Cheval Blanc). Having survived the war between Israel and hezbollah in 2006, Massaya celebrated their 10th anniversary midst more warring in 2008. The Tanaïl/Massaya vineyards are located at an altitude of 1000 metres above sea level in the fertile Bekaa Valley where the slopes are protected by Mount Lebanon and the Anti-Lebanon mountains. Free of frost and diseases, the Bekaa Valley enjoys a unique climate with long gentle summers, wet winters and an average temperature of 25 degrees – perfect for viticulture. Daniel and Frédéric Brunier have introduced a showpiece winery copied from Vieux Télégraphe and Les Pallières in Gigondas – alternate small wooden and concrete vats, all designed by the same winery architect. The winery is uniquely situated in the middle of their vineyards. The wines offer a wonderful mix of the Rhône, Bordeaux and the spice of the Levant.
The wine’s aromas are rich yet very elegant with morello cherry, cassis and spice to the fore. On the palate it is concentrated and ripe, with plenty of perfumed, parma-violet character, fine tannins and an excellent length.
90 Points, International Wine Cellar – Vivid ruby. Complex aromas of red and dark berries, Indian spices and violet, with slow-building smokiness. Taut and focused on the palate, offering lively bitter cherry and black raspberry flavors that pick up weight with air. Deep and dark red. Shiny. Fresh fruits with red berries and spices on the nose. The palate is full, round and racy. Rounded and smooth tannins. A full-bodied, rich and intensly aromatic wine. Bright herbal and spiced aromatics, with notes of baking spices, fajitas, black cherries, plums, and a long black tea finish.Corvina is great with traditional Veneto dishes such as flour gnocchi with mountain cheese, pasta and bean soup, and sausage risotto. It also pairs nicely with red meat, roasts, spiced pork sausage, heartier poultry dishes, and ripe cheeses.
Schiava, a Trentino autochthonous grape variety, has always been cultivated on the typical terraced vineyards in Valle di Cembra. Of a light red colour, Cembra Schiava has an elegant aroma evoking fresh red forest fruits. Soft and well-balanced on the palate, it has a slightly acidic note which marries well with traditional local dishes.
Manual harvesting in early October; pre-fermentation for 36/48 hours; pressing; static decantation of the must; fermentation at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks; ageing in fibre-glass reinforced tanks for about 4/5 months before bottling.
There is no mystery behind this delicious wine. Domaine Brunet is classified as a Vin de Pays d’Oc from Limoux. The bouquet presents impressive concentration and intensity with aromas of black cherry, vanilla, and subtle note of smoky toast. Incredibly rich and juicy on the palate with flavors of blackberry melting seemlessly into a backround of soft, velvety tannins. This is a great value among Pinot’s from just about anywhere.
Bogle winemakers have crafted an expressive example of this classic varietal. Richly extracted cherry and cassis arrest the senses, holding captive on both the nose and the palate. Swiftly followed by black pepper and black olive, the supple mouthfeel fills out this full-bodied wine. Spicy American oak heightens the dense fruit, finishing with wisps of ground pepper and stellar tannins.
This well-balanced red wine can be savored with a variety of meat dishes, rich sauces or aged cheeses. Try a rib eye with blue cheese butter.
Bricco Blina’ is the name of the vineyard. This wine is a direct, straightforward rendition of the Barbera grape. Fresh acidity and berry flavors are the hallmarks of Barbera, but low yields and old vines give this wine very good depth and concentration, too. Fermentation and aging are completed in stainless steel, and the wine is bottled before the following harvest.
