The Apollonio Copertino Rosso Rocca dei Mori has an intense ruby red. Elegant aroma of black fruit and violets on the nose, licorice. Good harmony. Bodied wine with spicy notes of black pepper and wild herbs.
Ruby red color coats the glass. Slightly floral with a punch of concentrated plum, dark berry fruit and orange peel. Dense and rich, an unforgettable saturation of voluptuous, jammy flavors fold together. Sweet layers of black fruit build depth on the back palate. Finishing with nuances of vanilla and boysenberry jam that encourage another taste.
Shows gorgeous strawberry tart aromas, with fresh flowers and subtle vanilla bean. Full-bodied, with seamless tannins and a solid core of beautiful fruit. Lots of new wood. Needs more time to come together.-’99 Piedmont blind retrospective (2009). Best after 2011.
The 1999 Le Vigne presents a highly aromatic, perfumed nose and gorgeous layers of bright, focused red fruit on a medium-bodied frame, with excellent length and concentration. This firmly structured Barolo remains a model of restrained elegance and finesse that strikes a gorgeous balance between traditional and modern expressions of Barolo. It will benefit from a few years of bottle age and drink well until age 20.
Bright herbal and spiced aromatics, with notes of baking spices, fajitas, black cherries, plums, and a long black tea finish.Corvina is great with traditional Veneto dishes such as flour gnocchi with mountain cheese, pasta and bean soup, and sausage risotto. It also pairs nicely with red meat, roasts, spiced pork sausage, heartier poultry dishes, and ripe cheeses.
If you try to find the exact cepage on this always-fantastic red blend, you might find yourself gazing up at the heavens for an answer, since you won’t get one from the winemaker. The Pleiades might be the only super allocated, cult California wine for under $35, and it’s sure to sell out quickly, as previous vintages have. The Zinfandel presents a rich, warm feel that could be confused with biting into a chocolate covered cherry, while the Syrah adds a finish that does not linger after the party is over. The Petit is blended perfectly to display aromatics of magic and love. Sexual Chocolate pairs well with late nights, friends, and a second bottle of Sexual Chocolate.
The 2011 vintage is very floral with predominant notes of violet. Rounding out the nose are aromas of dry herbs and hints of orange peel, white pepper and currant. On the palate, fresh red berries, cassis and strawberry. This wine has plenty of texture and is rich mid-palate, but has a soft and creamy finish.
Intense red colour with a purple rim. A spicy profile with ripe black fruit and violets. Smooth and rich on the palate with soft tannins, good density and a hint of oak. A well balanced, unpretentious wine made for easy drinking.
