This Zinfandel speaks to the old vine DNA of this wine, with earthy mixed berry characters and subtler hints of white and black pepper. The finish lingers on, creating a mouth-watering desire for another sip.


On the nose the wine has layers of berry fruit and anise aromas with hints of spice. On the palate, blackberry and spicy plum fruit with a rich mouth feel trailing to a velvety toasted oak finish.


Tasting Notes
A zesty blend from our three mountain vineyards at 1000 to 1700 ft overlooking Chiles Canyon. Dark cherry and raspberry flavors with tinges of bay leaf and clove. Accompanies wood grilled vegetables and marbled meats.

Winemaking Notes
Fruit is destemmed to open top fermenters, Cold soak for 3 days and fermented 7 days.
Aged 14 months in 70% American Oak – 20% new, and 30% French Oak



Winemaker Tasting Notes
Bramble, raspberry, cassis, toasted oak, and floral aromas; layered black cherry and currant, full bodied with well coated tannins and notes of licorice and black olive on the finish.

*Editor’s Choice* Ridge hews to a leaner, lower alcohol style than most California wineries these days, resulting in wines that aren’t blockbusters, but are complex and food-friendly. This bottling defines such a style. It’s dry and lithe in the mouth yet gently tannic, with suggestions of berry jam, bacon, grilled mushrooms and hints of balsamic and soy sauce.  (8/ 2013)

Winemaker Tasting Notes
Aromas of bramble fruit, wintergreen, licorice, and sweet toasted oak. Rich black cherry fruit on entry with elegant chalky tannins, gravel/rock, and ginger root. A layered, sensuous finish.
A dry winter, mild spring, and warm summer at first advanced ripening, but heavy autumn fogs slowed progress. Harvest began September 17, finishing in mid-October. Grapes from the individual parcels were crushed to separate fermentors, some fitted with grids for submerged-cap fermentation. All were pumped over daily, drawing out rich color and full body. Malolactics were complete by November, when thirteen of the seventeen parcels were selected. This superb vintage will be most enjoyable over the next ten to fifteen years. EB (11/13)

Ruby red color coats the glass. Slightly floral with a punch of concentrated plum, dark berry fruit and orange peel. Dense and rich, an unforgettable saturation of voluptuous, jammy flavors fold together. Sweet layers of black fruit build depth on the back palate. Finishing with nuances of vanilla and boysenberry jam that encourage another taste.

Today, we share his passion as we farm estate Zinfandel in Alexander and Dry Creek valleys. This wine combines sites that have produced Zinfandel for over a century with newer sites that utilize proprietary clones and the most advanced viticultural practices.
